Procter & Gamble: Microsoft 365/SharePoint Projects
The Client
Procter & Gamble (P&G) is a multinational consumer goods corporation and is a Fortune 500 company. The Product Master Data Team, based in their Cincinnati, Ohio headquarters was the client.
The challenge
The Product Master Data Team within P&G had the challenge of managing their myriad of business processes which were all handled manually. Several of their business processes relied on users emailing each other to keep workstreams moving and to ensure that statuses can be kept up to date and tracked. They wanted to streamline their various business processes.
The goal
Find a Microsoft 365/SharePoint expert who can work with the team to understand their current processes, analyze the current state and put together a plan/roadmap to streamline their processes and deliver to the plan using the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, i.e., SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate (Flow), etc. In addition to this, they also wanted rich insights using Power BI so that they can get measurable outcomes.
The Microsoft 365/SharePoint expert needed to:
- be an Experienced professional with good business acumen
- be able to elicit requirements and draft a plan/roadmap from scratch
- be able to offer suggestions based on deep industry experience
- be able to provide end to end solution architecture/design
- have hands-on experience to implement the plan and
- have excellent stakeholder management skills
How Remote Talent delivered?
We delivered Microsoft 365 professional services from New Zealand providing comprehensive consulting/implementation capability. The projects required end-to-end delivery involving all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), i.e., from requirements elicitation to solution design, implementation, testing, training, and ongoing support. In addition, we also delivered adoption and change management services to ensure that the new processes/tools were bedded in and adopted widely.
Flexible engagement
Breadth and depth of talent
Local and global talent
The outcome
The Product Master Data Team was able to streamline several of their business processes resulting in quicker turnarounds for several of their key internal processes and also improved data quality/robustness of the process. They were also able to objectively measure the positive outcomes of the various changes implemented thanks to the rich insights/reporting provided by Power BI reports.
The successful outcome of the various projects allowed the team to reassign their team members to more pertinent activities within the team. The collaboration between the P&G team and Remote Talent team has been a multi-year relationship and we are delighted to be trusted partners and the ‘go-to’ resource for the team for all things Microsoft 365.
What P&G have to say?
Going into this project, I wasn’t sure what I really thought I needed other than a streamlined solution to reduce manual touches. Colleagues suggested an MS Flow product and from there I was connected to Zaki at Remote Talent. I described my current processes and my vision of what I would like the solution to look like. Zaki listened and made numerous suggestions for improvement and was able to demo several of them for us. Many of his ideas were incorporated into our product, some didn’t feel like they were for us. Some suggestions were for designs I didn’t even know were possible. Zaki brought tremendous experience to the table.
As we implemented our new ideas, additional areas for improvement materialized and Zaki was able to lead us through the vetting process of what was possible and the pros and cons of various approaches to making it a reality. Zaki acted as both a technical designer and an inspiration.
Our product has continued to evolve over the past few years as new needs emerged and new technology made new functionality possible. We now have a product that we show off to other organizations and can demonstrate the efficiency and productivity it has allowed us to realize.
The time and physical distance between the US and New Zealand was never a factor in building our tools. During the project, we found convenient meeting times that worked personally and professionally for both of us. Much of the work was done by Zaki and did not require me or my team to be available. Zaki always had milestones ready to demo and handoff to us to test in time for the scheduled project meetings. I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to do another project with Zaki or any other resource who was located many time zones away.
